GambleAware announces the appointment of a new trustee.

London, 14 January 2019: GambleAware announces the appointment of a new trustee, Rachel Pearce, Director Commissioning Operations (South West – North) at NHS England. The appointment was made following an open recruitment process supported by an independent recruitment advisor. As one of ten Directors Commissioning Operations operating nationally, Rachel provides strategic leadership and assurance to five Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and is responsible for a £1bn commissioning budget across directly commissioned services including: primary care (budget £800m); Armed Forces for England (budget £44m); and, Health and Justice for South of England (budget £122m). Alongside her NHS career, Rachel maintains a commitment to the non-statutory sector and has been a trustee for 13 years with charities providing drug and alcohol services and latterly mental health support including serving as Vice Chair of the Gloucestershire based charity The Independent Trust until 2014. Kate Lampard, GambleAware’s Chair of Trustees said: “We are delighted that Rachel has agreed to become a trustee of GambleAware. She brings strong experience in commissioning, and we now consider the Board to have a full complement of trustees that will enable us to pursue our charitable objectives to reduce gambling-related harms. GambleAware’s Board has been wholly independent of the gambling industry since last year, and we believe this is necessary to secure public trust and confidence given our central role in commissioning research, education and treatment services.”
